John S. Aldridge is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the St. Mary's University School of Law. Prior to joining the law firm, Mr. Aldridge served as the Director of Legal Services for the Texas Association of School Boards. Mr. Aldridge co-authored the original Legal Handbook for Texas School Administrators, published by OMNI Publishers, Inc., for the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) and the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). Mr. Aldridge also co-authored a monograph "Legal Guidelines for Permissible Student Searches in the Public School” for the Schools Against Substance Abuse (SASA) program at Texas State University and was a contributor to the National School Boards Association's publication, “Religion, Education and the U.S. Constitution.” Legal articles written by Mr. Aldridge for various publications include such topics as: student searches, employee contract nonrenewal, employee grievances, libel and slander, student discipline, employee documentation, religion in the schools, and computer and internet use in the schools. He has taught school law courses at Baylor University and at Sul Ross State University. He is a past Chairman of the National School Boards Association's Council of School Attorneys in Washington, D.C., and served as an ex officio member of the NSBA Board of Trustees. He writes a regular “Ask A Lawyer” legal column for the Texas Secondary School Principals Association's monthly newsletter. He is a frequent speaker at education law conferences across the state. Mr. Aldridge previously also served as co-bond counsel with Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P., providing bond counsel services to Texas School districts.
